HEALTH
AND SAFETY
Work
will only commence when a pre job risk assessment and a safety discussion
that is appropriate to the level of the risk involved has been carried
out.
All
personnel under Caines Pump Consultancy Ltd, including sub contractors
will be trained and competent in their work.
All personnel will wear the appropriate PPE according to the risk
assessment involved.
Caines
Pump Consultancy Ltd will not commence any working practices if
it is unsafe to do so.
Permit
to work, Method Statements and Risk Assessments will be in place
before commencement of work and will be adhered to.
Electrical
isolations will be completed by a competent electrician supplied
by the customer, or systems locked off and tagged by a competent
technician supplied by the customer.
All
valves to be closed, locked in place and tagged by customer's competent
technician.
Working
at heights
Any
work performed above 2 metres will require scaffolding, erected
by qualified registered scaffolders. Inspection by a qualified scaffold
inspector with appropriate certification of the platform will be
required, before commencement of work.
Manual
Handling
Where
manual handling operations cannot be avoided, a suitable and sufficient
assessment of the risks to health and safety must be in place.
Lifting
Operations
All
lifting equipment must be certified before use and comes under the
Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER)
and the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulation 1998 (PUWER).
Competent personnel only to carry out lifting procedures.
Welding/Cutting
and Grinding
Fire
Risks. PPE/required.
Clean
and clear area of any flammable material. Shield with flameproof
screen. Trained standby fireman and fire extinguisher to be available.
COSHH
Full
COSHH Risk Assessment information must be made available before
work can commence. Full PPE will be worn when engineering controls
are not sufficient.
Noise
All
personnel under Caines Pump Consultancy Ltd will wear hearing protection
over 85dB(A).
Eye
Protection
All
personnel will wear safety glasses at all times whilst on site.
Face shield to be worn when breaking containment.
Accident
and First Aid Procedures
All
accidents will come under the Reporting Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous
Occurrence Regulations (RIDDOR). Trained First Aid personnel must
be available on all sites and supplied by the customer.
Confined
Space Entry
Permit
to be issued by authorised responsible person. Permit is communicated
to all affected personnel and posted as required.
All
persons involved are competent to do the work and all sources of
energy affecting the space will be isolated.
Testing
of atmospheres is conducted, verified and repeated as often as defined
by the Risk Assessment. A standby person is stationed and unauthorised
entry is prevented.
